So let’s say you have your solar system installed and it’s generating more power than you need.
If you decide to export this excess power back to the grid, you are basically selling it, so you’ll be paid through the feed-in tariff system.
Feed-in tariffs can be either single rate, which means that whatever time of day, you’ll be paid the same rate.
Or, feed-in tariffs can be time-varying, which means what you’re paid depends on the time of the day that the power is sold to the grid. Energy retailers can offer either rate or both.
