Australian solar industry statistician SunWiz has published new data showing that small-scale solar system registration, commonly used for rooftop residential solar, keeps climbing, so much so, that demand in February 2020 has smashed earlier records, with the monthly capacity reaching 218MW Australia-wide.

The biggest contributor in February was New South Wales (59MW), followed by Queensland (53MW) then Victoria (48MW).

Western Australia (26.5MW) and South Australia (24MW), while lagging behind, showed growth when compared to previous months.

SunWiz managing director, Warwick Johnston, said that the residential market had shown exceptional growth in the 6-8kW segment.

“In the overall distribution, the whole residential sector has grown. This month, all states showed a promising growth. NSW retained its #1 position, followed by QLD and VIC. SA and WA all had record months,” he said.
